Lake Almanor student receives prestigious scholarship

St. Andrew’s Academy in Chester is pleased to announce that Abigail Bartel has been selected as a Witherspoon Scholar at Providence Christian College located in Pasadena. Bartel is from Long Beach where her father works as a rocket engineer at Elon Musk’s Space X. The Witherspoon honors program is a four-year adventure for those seeking an elite liberal arts education. All those chosen will pay no more than 25  percent of tuition each academic year and receive fully funded world travel. Qualified candidates are those who have demonstrated scholastic excellence, personal merit, and a mature commitment to their Christian faith.

St. Andrew’s Academy college counselor and this year’s Hilary Lecture speaker, Dr. John Seel said, “It is one thing to get into an elite liberal arts college. It is quite another thing for them to pay to have you attend. We are so proud of Abby—and frankly not surprised. Few locals fully realize the quality of education emanating from St. Andrew’s, now housed in the former Thirsty Trout Pub on Main Street Chester.”
