LaMalfa releases statement on request for military aid to fight Dixie Fire

Representative Doug LaMalfa released a statement on his social media page regarding the Dixie Fire the evening of Wednesday, August 4.

It states, “My team and I have been in continual contact with the Dixie Fire incident command, Plumas County Sheriff Todd Johns, and The Governor’s Office of Emergency Services. This afternoon conditions worsened rapidly, and it became clear that we lacked needed resources. After conversations with the State of California, I spoke with the White House about the Biden Administration approving military aid to help us fight this fire. The Office of Emergency Services is working to make the official request, per federal law, and the White House is expediting action to help. I thank all involved for helping in our time of need.”

More information will be updated as it becomes available.
