Graeagle Men’s Golf Association

The GMGA Sierra Nevada Travel Team (SNTT) played in competition with Reno’s Washoe County Golf Course Team on May 9 on the Washoe course.  The result was 38.5 points for Washoe and 6.5 points for Graeagle.  The two teams played again, May 16, on the Graeagle Meadows Golf Course. The score for those rounds was Graeagle 26 and Washoe 19.  The overall results after the first week of competition put Washoe in first place (57.5). Other teams in the Sierra Nevada Travel Team standings are Diamond Mountain (56.5), Fernley (50.5), Sierra Sage (39.5), and Plumas Pines (33.5). Graeagle is in last place (32.5).

The GMGA play on May 24th saw 21 players compete in a low net and skins game played under ideal golf conditions.  Lance Raglen won first place with a net score of 68. Jim Adams and Bob Laxague tied for second with net scores of 70. Norm Nichols score of 72 earned fourth place. Three skins were awarded. Two to Bob Laxague and one to Jim Reynolds.

GMGA play day May 25 repeated the game theme of individual low net and skins. Rounds were played under stormy skies that threatened showers and displayed distant lightning.  Most golf groups were in the clubhouse before the rain began, but a few were caught on the course and got wet. Ron Eaton won first place with a net score of 64. Jim Adams took second with a net score of 66. Jim Reynolds came in third with a net score of 69.  A four-way tie claimed fourth place. The slot was shared among Chuck Hein, Cory Fanti, Jack Gilbert, and Mark Yuill, all with net scores of 72.  There were seven skins awarded. Two went to Ron Eaton, and one each to Chuck Hein, Cory Fanti, Don Judson, Jack Gilbert and Jim Adams.
