Letter to the Editor: Clarifying previous mine statement
I would like to clarify a statement I made yesterday about the proposed aggregate mine north of Portola being 500 feet deep. I was incorrect about this, and I apologize for the error.
What I was referring to was the vertical bite out of the mountain on the east side of the mine, not a hole. In looking more carefully at topographic cross sections of the proposed mine footprint, the vertical bite is actually 410 feet, not 500 feet as I said.
The other concerns I raised about this proposed mine still stand.
