Letter to the Editor: Live up to your obligations – otherwise it’s disrespectful
The time for budget negotiations has ended. Congress passed the omnibus bill in late december 2022. It’s been signed by the president — 9 house Republicans and 18 senate Republicans voted for it.
Most people would not look kindly on someone who incurred a debt and then decided they wouldn’t live up to it unless things went the way they decided after the fact. The horses have already left the gate.
If congress doesn’t like the spending bill now, they can put changes in the next bill, not one that has already been passed
To me this looks like going back on your word. I think it’s tacky and disrespectful.
