Letter to the Editor: National Monument in Plumas
I read with some interest your account of the recent public meeting held on the subject in Quincy. Absent was information regarding hunting and fishing on the property. Will firearms and fishing rods be banned? What about Boy Scout camping trips? Will they be restricted to activities within “designated” areas, and to group sizes leas than six? Will an adventure race be able to be conducted within the monument? This is typically 10-15 teams of four members each, running, biking, and boating over 3-5 days using map and compass. It sounds like a land grab, executed in order to keep people out. I am skeptical.
