Letter to the Editor: Nationalism and Patriotism

In reply to Jay Morris: At the end on WWII there was nary a NAZI to be found in Germany. Hardly anyone there would admit to supporting Fascism, or to “going along to get along”. I suspect that many folks up here don’t really understand what Fascism is or recognize it in themselves. (we all harbor some scrap of it to one degree or another)

A few years ago, at a men’s group I attended, I queried the folks there on the difference between Nationalism and Patriotism. To a man they all said Nationalism and Patriotism were the same thing.

It was saddening to find they had no clue to what the differences might be.

I’ll make no attempt to educate here.
