Letter to the Editor: Pay your taxes

So, President Trump does not want to show his taxes. Says they are under audit. That does not prevent him from making them public, like Joe Biden has, as well as all the other presidential candidates since Carter. Gee, I wonder why. He is fighting like hell to keep them undisclosed. We know he’s a deadbeat and does not want to pay his dues to the greatest nation ever. He must not think so. Anyhow, since the income tax was implemented in 1913, the mega wealthy and corporations have been undermining it, successfully, always to benefit themselves. I guess when you’re a multimillionaire you just are not rich enough and you don’t give a damn about your country. By the way it is tax cuts and cheats that will defund our police.

These rich folks have also been under reporting their income, hiding their income, manipulating their reporting, and paying lawyers, accountants, and lobbyists to steal from the rest of us. The rich also want to eliminate the inheritance tax so their kids don’t have to lift themselves up by their bootstraps. The final blow that Republicans have done is severely damage the collections division of the Internal Revenue Service so it is easier to cheat. We will never be the great nation that we were if only working people are paying their taxes.
