Letter to the Editor: Thank you and Pay it Forward

On Nov. 1, I was in Dollar General in Quincy to pick up a few items. As I was standing in line to check out — keeping social distancing in mind, I noticed a man who had a few items in another aisle waiting to check out so I said go ahead of me. As he was checking out, another register opened up and the clerk began ringing up my items. The clerk on the other register came back to me and said the man that I said go ahead of me had given her $27 to pay for my $29 total of items I was getting. I was a bit taken aback to say the least and very grateful. 2020 has been a horrible year for so many — the virus, the fires, the election, so many out of work — this act of kindness by this man sure made me think that there are good people in this world, and this little town of Quincy makes me so proud to live here. I will be going to Dollar General and going to do the same thing. Pay it forward because it’s the KIND thing to do.  To the man who paid for my items a HUGE THANK YOU.
