Letter to the Editor: We cannot prevent death

To those that feel that a driver’s license is comparable to the cancellation of your liberty and the invasion of your body by governmental mandate running a group experiment on human subjects, take note of the wisdom of one that lived under a tyrannical government.

Mr. Benjamin Franklin stated, “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”

In 2020 in a moment your freedom of movement, free association, to pursue life, liberty and happiness, earn a living and political representation was taken from you under the guise of public safety. Unelected officials were (are) calling the shots. Here we are going on 21 months and the “safety” is yet to be realized and your liberties are still restricted. The human race has weathered worse epidemics and pandemics than SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19. Amazingly the human race survived.

We cannot prevent death. 100% guarantee you will die. On the human level a terrible thing. We cannot even predict our own death. Science is not the savior you may think it is. Science is continually evolving. That is what makes it science.

I may become infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. I may live, die or live with lifelong disabilities. I may already have an immune system that can protect me and then again, I may never contract COVID-19. However, I will not have been subjected to the introduction of a foreign protein into my cells in an attempt to stimulate a desired (but not guaranteed) response against my will.
