Letter to the Editor: Why the same date?

This is in response to the letter writer who questioned why Quincy and Portola have tree lightings on the same date. 

On behalf of the Lost Sierra Chamber of Commerce, it is our absolute pleasure to assist with arranging the Portola Christmas in Old Town event. This will be meaningful for our community following COVID challenges and a difficult fire season–we hope to see you there! Historically this Portola event has always fallen on the first Friday in December, which happens to be December 3rd.

As a self-funded chamber, our volunteers diligently work to make Christmas in Old Town a success, especially for the youth. We are always in need of community supporters and encourage all to join our positive efforts for Plumas County.
