Letter to the Editor: Won’t prevent infection; will will prevent hospitalization, death
To respond to Jay Morris—you are correct. The President and First Lady were both vaccinated and boosted.
More importantly, it should be noted that neither of them became seriously ill with Covid. This is due to a combination of Covid vaccine and Paxlovid.
The ultimate goal of any vaccine is to prevent infection, but unfortunately many vaccines don’t quite hit this target. Nothing in life is perfect, but the prevention of serious illness and death we gain from Covid vaccines is still a wonderful thing. Remaining unvaccinated is taking more risks than are necessary.
Getting vaccinated with our present vaccines won’t prevent you from being infected, but it will protect you from hospitalization and death.
