Lighting Plumas towns purple in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Plumas Rural Services, in association with local Plumas County merchants, will be lighting up the Main streets of Plumas County (Portola, Quincy, Crescent Mills, Greenville and Chester) with purple twinkle lights, to shine the light on ending domestic violence.

PRS also is hosting a Paint and Sip event, with featured artist Trixie Hollyhox with Hollyhox Painting and Fine Arts. This local event will be held in Quincy at the Drunk Brush Wine Bar on Sunday, Oct. 23, from 1 to 4 p.m. The cost is $35, which includes all painting supplies and one beverage of your choice. Participants will be creating an empowering and inspirational piece of art. Register online at www.plumasruralservices.org/paintdv   Class size is limited to the first 20 registrants.

PRS will also have a booth for Safe Trick or Treat on Oct. 31 and will be handing out treats.
