Local dentist featured in national webinar

Dr. Michael Herndon

The Institute of Dental Specialists, via the American Academy of Periodontology, selected local dentist Dr. Michael Herndon to be a member of an expert panel on diagnosis and treatment planning of advanced cases.

He was the featured speaker May 10 on a nationally broadcast Webinar and three other panelists contributed opinions. This Webinar was limited to periodontists who are specialists in the treatment of gum disease and all aspects of surgical dental implant treatment, bone regeneration, and reconstructive surgery.

One of the panelists praised the event and, in particular, Herndon. “I don’t know what Michael’s specialty is as he mastered a complex Perio/Implant/Ortho/Pros case and did it all himself. His skills are incredible … incredible. I don’t think anybody teaches that kind of comprehensive dentistry at that level anymore,” he said.

While Herndon practices general dentistry in Quincy, he is very experienced and trained in periodontics, all aspects of dental implants (surgical and reconstructive) and in advanced reconstructive dentistry. Herndon said that advanced dental concepts are applicable not only to extensive and very difficult cases, but also to individual tooth problems as well.

He is a long-time member of the American Academy of Periodontology, a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Implant and Advanced Clinical Dentistry and completed a fellowship in Periodontal Prosthesis at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine, Departments of Advanced Periodontics and Periodontal Prosthesis in 1993 and was awarded the title “Amsterdam Fellow.”

Herndon has practiced in Quincy since 1983, and his daughter, Dr. Emily Luscri, joined the practice in 2010.
