Local-penned play gets a reading

The story is near and dear to his heart. He couldn’t get it out of his head so he wrote it down as a play.

Retired emeritus professor and Quincy resident Jon Probst wrote “Abuse” a play based on an encounter he’d seen many years ago.

After seeing the play reading and critique of “Serious Moonlight” in spring 2018, he approached Tina Terrazas to see if Pachuca Productions would give his play a reading and critique.

That reading is happening Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m., in the Main Street Sports Bar’s Lounge Room on Main Street in Quincy. The event is free and is for those 21 and over.

“We’re excited to give Mr. Probst’s play a proper reading — and we’re doing the whole thing,” said Terrazas.

The story takes place in the house of a man whose wife has just left him because of domestic violence. Various characters stop by to see the man and judge whether or not he is suicidal. The story of what he’s done and his own childhood trauma slowly unfolds.

The evening will have a brief introduction from Probst, the play, then critique after.
