Main Street Artists Gallery features the work of Mike Rowden

The Main Street Artists Gallery presents Reemergence, a vibrant show featuring Mike Rowden, in May. The public is invited to a wine and appetizer reception on Friday, May 5 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Rowden’s show is described as being like the radiance of a Lost Sierra spring. Born in Portola, this local artist has been collected nationally and internationally. He has received the Golden Bear Award in the California State Fair. These accolades have been bestowed upon him, yet his quiet demeanor and dedication to creation, is not affected, and he remains humbled by the trauma, loss and recovery which comes with life.
Rowden has endured challenges as a bronze foundry worker, a shingler, and raising a family. He was able to indulge in his love of learning, and eventually became a passionate student. As a student of art, his desire was to paint as well as Peter Bruegel; however, he was told by a noted critic that his work achieved the pinnacle of Jackson Pollack. “I’ll accept that,” he said. Rowden’s art is the accumulation of all aspects this life.
Main Street Artists Gallery is located at 436 Main Street in Quincy. Gallery hours are Wednesday – Friday 11 a.m. -5 p.m. and Saturdays 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
