Memorial Day is May 29 – where to pay tribute in Indian Valley and Quincy
Plumas County residents can participate in Memorial Day events in various areas in the county. Following are details of celebrations in Indian Valley and Quincy on May 29.
Indian Valley
The tributes start at 10 a.m. at Greenville Cemetery, followed by 10:30 a.m. at the Gorbet Cemetery near Mt. Hough Estates, 11 a.m. at the Crescent Mills Cemetery, 11:30 a.m. at the Taylorsville Cemetery, and finally 12 p.m. at Chico Jim Cemetery.
Quincy
The annual Plumas County Veterans’ Memorial Ceremony is set for Monday, May 29, at 10 a.m. at Dame Shirley Plaza in Quincy. Robert J. Zernich, longtime organizer of the event, will deliver the opening address welcoming all veterans and their guests. Zernich is a veteran.
Following the flag raising conducted by the Quincy Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3825, a flag ceremony will be conducted by members of the Quincy Elks Lodge No. 1884. There will also be speakers and music.
