Motorcycle vs. vehicle results in major injuries

A Redding man suffered major injuries during a crash with a Greenville resident April 11.

D. Kuykendall, 53, of Redding was riding a 2011 Harley Davidson southbound on Highway 89, south of the Dawn Community Center at 55 mph.

L. Jaimes, 58, of Greenville was driving her 2013 Kia northbound on Highway 89, south of Kuykendall, at 55-60 mph.

According to a report from the California Highway Patrol, as Kuykendall  navigated around a 30 mph curve in the roadway, he crossed the double-parallel, solid yellow centerline and entered into the path of the Kia. Kuykendall and Jaimes attempt to avoid a collision by taking evasive action, but the front of the motorcycle struck the front of the Kia.

Kuykendall was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in the southbound lane, to the left of the Kia. He sustained major injuries and was transported to Renown Medical Center. Jaimes suffered minor injuries and was transported to Plumas District Hospital.
