Museum begins season with a memorial

The Greenville Cy Hall Memorial Museum opened Saturday, May 5, to a busy weekend — mostly because of the preparations for the memorial to the museum’s most dedicated member, Jan Hall Thomas, whose father bears the museum’s name.

On May 6, Thomas’ family from southern California came up to pay their respects to both Thomas and the museum that stands in downtown Greenville, and to meet the museum volunteers and board that often worked with her.

The garden area surrounding the museum was renamed as the Janice Hall Thomas memorial garden in her honor.

The museum boasted over 80 visitors over the weekend and is open Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., through the first week of October.
