No more help needed feeding the fire crews

Aaron Campbell, the contractor responsible for feeding the crews at fire camp, said he has been overwhelmed by the number of people who have contacted him wanting to help. Plumas News posted a notice it received about 5:30 p.m. yesterday that help was urgently needed and the job paid $13/hour. Campbell said that’s about when his phone began ringing and the emails began arriving.

He said he was overwhelmed by the number of people who wanted to help — most just wanted to volunteer. “I have never seen a response like this before,” Campbell said. “People were willing to drive up from the Bay Area.” He said he even had a restaurant owner offer up his head chef.

“I’ve never witnessed anything like it,” he reiterated, impressed by the number of people who wanted support the firefighters. While the volunteer offers were wonderful, as a federal contractor, he must follow employment rules.

Campbell now has all of the help that he needs and a long list of people who are interested, so he wants to thank everyone who has contacted him but all positions are filled.
