Nominations sought for Indian Valley’s community member
As I’m typing it is becoming a winter wonderland outside. We’re definitely getting the snow they said we would. And its sure to get us all in the holiday spirit. When you read this the Thanksgiving holiday will have passed. And I hope you all enjoyed all the wonderful food shared with family and friends.
Also, the Taylorsville Light Parade will have happened on last Saturday. And I know all that attended had a wonderful time! If you have never attended you must next year. The little town of Taylorsville comes a live with businesses open late and a light parade comparable to those of a town ten times the size.
Up next, The Festival of Trees is happening this Saturday at the Indian Valley Community Center in Greenville. Beginning at 5 p.m. bring the whole family down for the Tree Lighting with Santa Clause himself, Memorial Lights, caroling and inside the community center there will be booths for the kids to make presents, wreath making, bake sale and hot chilis and stews to fill you up on this chilly evening. That same day many merchants in Greenville will be offering sales and discounts on holiday merchandise.
Memorial Light forms are out and you can still purchase a light on the community tree for a loved one. Forms are on line at indianvalleychamber.org or in info racks around the valley. Lights are just $5 each. And a portion of the proceeds is donated to the Indian Valley Food Pantry each year.
Community member of the year nomination forms are out now. If you would like to nominate someone for their hard work and community involvement over the past year, grab a form and return it to the Chamber office by Dec. 5. You can mail it to the chamber at P. O. Box 516, Greenville, drop it in the mail slot at the office on Main Street or drop it by Sterling Sage. The winner will be announced at the Year End Mixer on Dec. 12.
Which reminds me — mark your calendars for Dec. 12. The Indian Valley Chamber provides the main course, hot potato side and libations. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Town Hall in Greenville. This event is free to attend. Please bring a side dish to share. The community Member of the Year will be announced and fun will be had by all. Cheers!
Happy Holidays everyone!
