Outdoor performance theater project gets fundraising dinner

The next phase of Quincy High School junior Tristan McMichael’s senior project is underway — a fundraising dinner to help bring an outdoor performance theater space to Dame Shirley Plaza.

“For the project, we do not have a cost estimate yet because we haven’t met with an engineer yet. I hope to set up a meeting with the engineer I have in mind in the next week,” said McMichael.

He hopes the biggest costs will come at the end of the project when he will need to purchase sound equipment and lighting for the new venue, though he acknowledges that construction and engineering costs are coming, too.

On Saturday, Feb. 29, McMichael is hosting a Leap Day Spaghetti Feed from 5 pm. to 8 p.m. at the fairgrounds in the Tulsa Scott Pavilion.

So far, McMichael and his supporters have sold roughly 85 tickets and have received generous donations for the project prize drawing.

There are still 220 tickets available for purchase. McMichael encourages those interested to purchase tickets prior to the event as there will be a limited number of tickets available at the door.

Tickets are $10 and available at Quincy Provisions. McMichael is also available to deliver tickets to the Quincy area. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 927-9733.

McMichael is hoping to raise $3,000 to $5,000 from this event. The drawing will feature “an abundance of prizes,” according to McMichael. Tickets for the drawing will be available at the event for $1 per ticket, six tickets for $5, or $20 for “your arm span in tickets.”
