The Vitalant blood drive scheduled for today and tomorrow has numerous open appointment slots that desperately need to be filled. “We even have the coveted noon slot open today,” says coordinator assistant Susan Christensen.
Likely due to holiday travel, plus an unusually high number of cancellations for health reasons, not all appointment times have been filled for this drive.
“We’d like to encourage anyone who has an hour or so to spare today or tomorrow to be a ‘walk-in,’ someone without an official appointment who is willing to donate a pint of blood,” adds Christensen. “The nation is currently experiencing a blood supply shortage, and that affects us in Plumas County as well.”
Today’s drive runs from noon to 6 p.m., and tomorrow’s drive (Wednesday, Sept. 7) is open from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The drive is at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, corner of Bucks Lake Road and Bellamy Lane just west of the hospital.
