PDH Volunteers sponsor next week’s blood drive June 7-8
Submitted by Susan Christensen
Need a “happening” to zest up your life? The second Quincy Community Blood Drive of the year is happening soon, and it just so happens that we need donors.
The PDH Volunteers welcome both veteran donors and first-timers. The Volunteers have sponsored the June blood drive for the past 10 years. We thank Gloria Boland for making the arrangements for this one.
The two-day drive at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be held on Tuesday, June 7, from noon to 6 p.m. and on Wednesday, June 8, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The location is the corner of Bucks Lake Road and Bellamy Lane just west of the hospital.
While walk-ins are welcome, it’s easier for the Vitalant team if you make an appointment ahead of time, and you can do that by going online to Donors.Vitalant.org and clicking on “Make an appointment.”
Not a “computer person?” As it happens, you can call Elizabeth Smailes at 530-289-6511, and she’ll make your appointment for you.
If you ARE a computer person, you can save time by answering the interview questions in advance. Just go online to Donors.Vitalant.org and click on “Start health history questionnaire.” Answer the questions, then print your Fast Track ticket to bring to the drive. Remember, though—you can’t complete the questionnaire until the day you donate, not a moment sooner!
Be sure to eat a hearty meal before giving blood and bring your picture I.D. Vaccinated or not, please wear a mask, as this is considered a medical event. And yes, home-made, post-donation treats are happening once again.
