Phase 1 household hazardous waste cleanup begins on Beckwourth Complex structures
California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) will begin Phase 1 Household Hazardous Waste cleanup operations for the Plumas County locations affected by the Beckwourth Complex Fire on Monday, Aug. 16. The Beckwourth Fire includes the immediate areas around Frenchman Lake, a map of the structures impacted by this incident can be found here.
Please do not interfere or impede the DTSC hazardous materials crews while they conduct their assessments and removals. Do not move or disturb ash or debris from burn areas, such actions could result in the loss of government assistance related to the Phase 2 debris removal process, including removal of mass debris. Health and safety hazards remain, enter area at your own risk.
