Piecemakers Quilt Guild staying busy

The Chester Piecemakers Quilt Guild is keeping very busy. Many of our members are gone during the winter, but those who live here all year keep the guild’s programs running no matter what the weather brings.

We had our regular meeting Feb. 10 at the Almanor Recreation Center. After a short business meeting, our Show ‘n Tell was wonderful!

Several of our members displayed quilts, cross-stitched items, project storage bags, and a machine embroidered tapestry — such a nice assortment of hand-made projects!

We then hosted a surprise baby shower for our monthly newsletter editor, Corie Howe.

All the pink frosted refreshments, pink punch and pink balloons indicated that we were celebrating a new baby girl coming soon.

We all enjoyed watching Corie open her gifts. The guild also presented her with two quilts: one for the new baby and one for her little boy.

Our next meeting at the Almanor Recreation Center is March 9 at 1 p.m.

Our activity for the next day (March 10) was displayed at this meeting.

Terry Aaroe, our vice president, will teach us how to make a handy fabric bag that stands upright and can hold gifts, wine bottles, knitting supplies, or any other sewing items.

Our Sew Days are held each Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Sierra Meadows Community Room. You do not need to be a member to attend.

Bring your sewing machine, hand sewing items, or just come by and say “Hello.”

Some quilters might be working on our Heartwarmer Quilts, hospital clothing protectors, or on personal projects. It’s a nice friendly group.
