Pile burning on the Almanor Ranger District this week
Lake Almanor area residents shouldn’t be alarmed if they see smoke in the Basin this week. The Lassen National Forest’s Almanor Ranger District will be pile burning in two locations: Panther Springs (Boondocks Hand Piles), and Butte Meadows (Lotts Machine Piles).
The burning is meant to reduce hazardous fuels near the communities. All burning on the Lassen National Forest is done under specific weather and fuel conditions, and is done to achieve objectives that will help fire managers with future fire starts in the area.
