Plumas County prescribed fire efforts featured in on-air story; take the time to view it

With the Dixie Fire fresh in our memories and another fire season looming, Plumas County residents are doing all that they can to make the local landscape more fire resilient. One facet of these efforts is prescribed burning — not just on public lands, but on private property as well. A recent story that aired on PBS featured two local landowners (Rick Batha and Jeff Greef)  who use prescribed fire to protect their homes and acreage. The PBS story also features interviews with subject experts as they explain the process. But it’s more than talk, the story shares great video of the work that is being accomplished. The Plumas Underburn Cooperative is featured heavily in this story, which highlights its efforts that are supported by the Plumas County Fire Safe Council and the Feather River RCD.

Plumas News recommends that you take the time to watch this short video; it’s enlightening.
