Plumas Crisis Intervention & Resource Center announces new Interim Executive Director

Plumas Crisis Intervention & Resource Center  welcomes a new Interim Executive Director, Kate Rahmeyer. Kate has been with PCIRC for over a year as the Plumas CASA Program Manager and the newly created PCIRC Free Legal Clinic Manager.

Kate comes with a legal background, having obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Davis in English Literature and Sociology and a Paralegal Certificate from the University of California, Berkeley. She got her foot into the legal field when she worked at the Washoe County Law Library and Self-Help Clinic. There, she assisted pro-per litigants with their legal paperwork. Kate quickly realized that there was an unmet need for assistance with legal documents for individuals that couldn’t afford an attorney but needed more assistance than the Self-Help Clinic was allowed to provide. From there, her business Midtown Document Prep was born, and she became a Legal Document Preparer with the State of Nevada.

For several years, Kate assisted individuals with their family law cases until an opportunity to dive into nonprofit formation and compliance was offered to her. Being a quick learner, she was soon forming nonprofits across all 50 states and has helped hundreds of programs to obtain their 501c3 status with the IRS. Kate also prepared payroll and assisted many clients with the Public Student Loan Forgiveness Program. To this day, she continues to form nonprofits for clients and is intimately familiar with California and Federal annual compliance reporting and requirements.

Along the way, Kate also worked for the Claimant Advocacy Group which assists individuals receiving personal injury settlements with planning for their future and ensuring they stay on any government benefits they are entitled to. Kate managed a small team in their Reno, Nevada office and became the go-to consultant for Raymond James advisors setting up Medicaid Complaint Annuities as they planned for long term care for their loved ones. As an independent paralegal, Kate has years of work experience with business and tax attorneys setting up LLC’s, Corporations, and drafting bylaws, operating agreements, and annual consents.

Kate relocated back to her Plumas County roots last year and is happy to be romping in the Sierras again. She is excited for this unique opportunity to come back to her hometown and step into an organization that she has volunteered with since she was ten years old. PCIRC is ecstatic to have Kate as the Interim Executive Director and looks forward to her continued growth and leadership within our organization.

  • I’m a senior with Plumas County legal problems. I am in Reno Nevada resident now, however. I wish I had real help when I needed it.

    • Definitely a needed service.

  • Kudos lady! Keep crushing it!

  • Found this on a Google search:
“Kate Rahmeyer is not an attorney authorized to practice in this State and is prohibited from providing legal advice or legal representation to any person.”

    • Hello Peggy! That language is correct and is from my website. I am a paralegal, not an attorney and all of my legal work is always under licensed attorneys. My background however, is important to my new role with PCIRC.
