Plumas Search and Rescue responds to fatal accident involving Chico man

Plumas County Search and Rescue responded to the scene of a fatal accident on Saturday afternoon May 29. The Quincy office of the California Highway Patrol released a report of the incident this morning May 31.

According to the CHP, David Nunley, 72, 0f Chico, was traveling northbound on Peoria Creek Road at approximately 11 a.m. May 29 riding a 2019 Ural BTM motorcycle with a side car, north of US Forest Service road 23N39 at an unknown speed. For an unknown reason Nunley lost control of his motorcycle which caused it to flip over trapping him underneath.

At approximately 2:20 p.m., a passerby found Nunley and removed the motorcycle from on top of him to render aid, but he was unresponsive. The passerby called 911 and a search and rescue response was initiated. Plumas County Search and Rescue responded and located the collision at approximately 4:10 p.m. at which time Nunley was pronounced deceased at the scene.

This traffic collision is still under investigation.
