Plumas Sheriff’s Office and Butte Bomb Squad neutralized explosive device in Portola

Plumas County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a suspected improvised explosive device near the 500 block of East Sierra Avenue in Portola near the disc golf course on Sunday, May 21, at approximately 12:58 p.m. Sheriff’s personnel were dispatched immediately to secure the area.

Upon arrival, the PCSO contacted the Butte County Inter-Agency Bomb Squad, who responded to the scene. The highly trained bomb squad members conducted a thorough assessment and ultimately executed a safe operation to neutralize the suspected improvised explosive device.

The collaborative efforts between the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office and the Butte County Inter-Agency Bomb Squad were crucial in ensuring the safety of the community. “Their swift response and expertise in handling such situations played a vital role in resolving the incident without harm to anyone,” read a statement released by the Sheriff’s Office.
