Portola High graduate works for NOAA as a scientist

Anna McAuliffe, a 2017 graduate of Portola High School, traveled from Rhode Island to Brazil as a scientist on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Ship Ronald H. Brown. The Brown is a 274-foot research vessel that was commission in 1997. During the 21-day voyage, McAuliffe was testing a new atmospheric measurement system, as well as measuring dissolved CO2 and deploying Argo floats. McAuliffe was the only scientist on this transit. She currently resides in Colorado.
