Portola Penguins to host swim meet and BBQ Sunday, Aug. 21; faced off with Plumas Rapids July 23

The Portola Penguins and the Plumas Rapids from Quincy met in a head-to-head swim meet July 23 at the Portola swimming pool to compete in 30 separate swim events. An award ceremony took place after the meet where Portola Penguins Swim Team volunteers cooked a “fantastic BBQ!” said Portola Penguin parent Lee Anne Cote.

“Our next swim meet will be at the Portola swimming pool on Sunday, Aug. 21, where the Portola Penguins will race against the Lassen Volcanoes!” Swim fans are welcome to watch the races starting at 1 p.m. anticipated to conclude around 3 p.m. Fans are equally welcome and encouraged to attend a fundraising BBQ and drawing for the Portola Penguins after the meet. The BBQ and drawing will take place in the park, next to the pool, immediately following the August 21 race companion.
