To reduce hazards around Quincy, and to increase forest health, a prescribed fire is planned for Thursday, Feb. 10, on Chandler Road.
The burn will take place if it is a designated burn day and if conditions are safe. The operation will have the support of Quincy Volunteer Fire Department and CAL FIRE engines on standby at the site. The prescribed fire is part of an ongoing project of fuel reduction on this 23-acre property.
The effort is led by members of the Plumas Underburn Cooperative, with a special permit from the Northern Sierra Air Quality Management District. The Plumas Underburn Cooperative is a local volunteer-based group that provides tools, training, permitting assistance, and volunteer time to support the use of fire on private lands.
