QHS senior announces writing contest winners
Plumas Unified School District requires its high school seniors to complete a senior project to graduate, but allows the students choose their project. This year Quincy High School senior Brystol Beatley held a writing contest.
She asked students to submit a work of fiction and award prizes to the winners. In the high school division, first place received $200; second place received $100; and third captured $75. There was also a junior high division where first place received $75; and second place received $35. Payton Merriman, the only junior high student to enter, received both prizes.
Winners of the high school division are:
First – Zenia Moghaddas
Second – Avalyn McColm
Third – Emma Beatley
Brystol Beatley thanked the local businesses that generously donated: the Plumas County Sheriffs’ Office, Madden Plumbing, Feather River Outdoors Store and the Toy Store.
Individuals who donated to the project included: Dwight Pierson, Mike Summerfield, David Wendel and Andrew Ryback.
