Quincy Firewise meets this Wednesday; Fire Chief Cassou is guest speaker

Quincy Firewise is a local volunteer group working to create a more fire aware and fire prepared community. All Quincy residents, including those from surrounding areas and other Firewise Communities, are invited to join the group the last Wednesday of every month from 5-6 p.m. at the West End Theater inside Quintopia. In addition to monthly guest speakers, Firewise provides up-to-date information on home/property insurance, evacuation preparedness, home hardening tips, and home ignition zone design.  Firewise also offers Peer to Peer Home Consultation signups to assist your efforts in home hardening.

This month the guest speaker is Robbie Cassou, Fire Chief for the Quincy Volunteer Fire Department (QVFD).  Robbie will share his perspectives and recommendations for ways in which Quincy can improve its wildfire resilience and preparation for a catastrophic wildfire incident.  He will also talk about the QVFD’s responsibilities within the local, state and federal responsibility areas. Firewise asked Cassou to talk about the ways we can help support the local volunteer fire department and the good work they do.

If you are passionate about building relationships within your community while participating in collective actions to minimize the loss of natural and human made resources caused by wildfire, you are welcome to attend each month and bring a friend and neighbor.

When:  Wednesday, Sept. 28 from 5-6 pm (meetings are scheduled the 4th Wednesday of every month)

Where:  West End Theatre inside of Quintopia
