Quincy Firewise welcomes entomologist to Nov. 30 meeting

Submitted by Sally McGowan

The Quincy Firewise meeting will be held this Wednesday evening, Nov. 30, at 5  p.m. at  the West End Theatre inside Quintopia. This month’s speaker is Danny Cluck who is an entomologist for the United States Forest Service.  Danny has worked with the USFS in North East California since 1992 and has focused on forest health issues since 2000.  His presentation will provide information on the increasing tree mortality in our area and the role bark beetles and the current drought play in the growing number of dead and dying trees. Please join us and other community members for an informative and interactive presentation on the health of our forests.

Quincy Firewise is a local volunteer group making efforts to create a more fire aware and fire prepared community. We invite all Quincy residents, including those from surrounding areas and other Firewise Communities, to join us the last Wednesday of every month from 5-6 pm at the West End Theater inside Quintopia. In addition to monthly guest speakers, we provide up to date information on home/property insurance, evacuation preparedness, home hardening tips, and home ignition zone design.  We also offer Peer to Peer Home Consultation sign ups to assist your efforts in home hardening and hazardous fuel removal.

When:  Wednesday, Nov. 30 from 5-6 p.m. (meetings are scheduled the 4th Wednesday of every month)

Where:  West End Theatre inside of Quintopia
