Chapter KH, Quincy of P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) partnered with Plumas County Intervention and Resource Center this past Christmas season by bringing boxes filled with food to Chapter KH’s annual Christmas party on Dec. 22. Members were given a detailed list of non-perishable items for each box. Enough boxes were donated to completely fill a member’s SUV! Boxes were wrapped in Christmas paper and included a personal note to the recipients.
P.E.O. is an organization started in 1869 devoted to helping women ages 18 years and older to complete their educations in diverse fields. Recipients are able to achieve accreditation in any field including BAs, MBAs, Doctorates, etc. through the support of scholarships, grants and loans using funds raised by women across the USA and Canada. Each of the last 10 years, Chapter KH, Quincy has assisted local high school senior girls with $500 scholarships, for a total of $8000. Chapter KH also helps candidates research additional P.E.O. California and International loan and grant opportunities.
Their motto is “Helping Women Reach for the Stars” and has resulted in millions of dollars being generated for educational excellence.
P.E.O. Chapter KH, Quincy is pleased to announce a celebration of the 10 anniversary of receiving their charter, to be held on March 20, 2023. A history of the activities of Chapter KH, Quincy and refreshments will be offered at 3 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church on High Street in Quincy.
