Quincy tennis players advance to sectional tournament

Athletes on the Quincy tennis team near the end of a difficult season — due to weather and travel — on a positive note. “We had a double header with Live Oak and Colusa on a very warm day,” reported Quincy High School head tennis coach Sarah Gallagher. The Trojan team went 3-6 with both team matches. “Most players had to play four matches in one day,” said Gallagher. “Two players had wins at home, only three home matches this season, with Sutter and Paradise Adventists.”

The league tournament, April 29 and 30, took place on a very hot 95-degree day. Kaleb Dupras won three singles matches in two sets each. Quinn McMichael had a strong match with Live Oaks number one player losing in three sets. Andrew Hardy played a very competitive singles match losing in three sets. Dupras will go on to Sectionals to compete in both singles and doubles categories. Hardy doubles up with Dupras for the Sectional competition after the pair won three doubles matches at the League Tournament. Sectionals will take place Saturday, May 6, in Orland. With Highway 70 closed, it will be a drive to arrive at the lower elevation destination.
