Rec district’s K-2 basketball clinic, youth wrestling start soon
The Central Plumas Recreation and Park District is now taking registration for its kindergarten-second grade basketball clinic series.
The deadline to register is Tuesday, Jan. 7. The clinic series is open to kindergarten through second-grade boys and girls, and is held every Tuesday night in Serpilio Hall at the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds from 5:15 to 6 p.m. beginning Tuesday, Jan. 7, and ending on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
Volunteer coaches from the Feather River College baseball program will teach basketball fundamentals, skills, and concepts while promoting teamwork and good sportsmanship.
“This is a great opportunity for this age group to be introduced to and develop fundamental basketball skills in a fun environment, and a fun way to be active during the winter months,” stated Recreation Supervisor, Kyle Stone. The e cost of the program is $25.
Additionally, the recreation district is now taking registrations for its kindergarten-eighth grade youth wrestling program. Wrestling coach Dustin Vert will once again be leading the program that begins on Tuesday, Jan. 7, and continues through early April.
The program is designed for both beginners and participants looking to further advance their wrestling skills. Practices are every Tuesday and Thursday in the Round Room at Quincy High School. Kindergarten through third-graders practice from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., while fourth- through eighth-graders practice from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The cost of the program is also $25.
