100 YEARS AGO … 1919

50 YEARS AGO … 1969

The Plumas County Board of Supervisors increased the daily rate at the County Hospital from $20 to $27 per day.

Feather River College applied to Federal Housing and Urban development officials for a loan to build dormitory facilities on its campus.

25 YEARS AGO … 1994

W.C. “Abby” Abernethy, Plumas County Sheriff for 22 years, died November 5. Fifty years ago he moved to Plumas County to take a position with the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office and less than eight years later he was elected Sheriff in 1954, winning the first of six terms. Among other accomplishments in his Plumas County career, he is credited with using canines in the field.

10 YEARS AGO … 2009

Plumas County District Attorney Jeff Cunan announced that he will not seek a third term, leaving only Assistant District Attorney Dave Hollister in the field.
