100 YEARS AGO … 1919

Editorial: Keep prosperity at home this Christmas. As good citizens we should remember to keep our local merchants in mind for our holiday purchases this Christmas. Plumas County merchants have invested in keeping the supply of local demands and they are entitled to our generous consideration. Let us give the local merchants the first opportunity to fulfill our Christmas wish list.

50 YEARS AGO … 1969

Enjoy Christmas feasting by grocery shopping locally–Turkey 39 cents per pound, standing rib roast $1.09 per pound, egg nog $1.19 a quart, yams 20 cents per pound, marshmallows 29 cents a bag, celery 23 cents a bunch,, cranberry sauce 26 cents a can, Simple Simon frozen pies 57 each, cool whip whipped topping 27 cents a container.

25 YEARS AGO … 1994

Shop for your holiday meal locally: Turkey 49 cents per pound, ham $1.19 per pound,  yams 49 cents per pound, brown ‘n serve dinner rolls 79 cents a dozen, Mrs. Smith’s frozen pie $1.99 each, cool whip whipped topping 79 cents a container.

The 85 full time and part time employees and 12 columnists from the Plumas and Lassen County offices of Feather Publishing wish you a happy seasons greetings from our family to yours.

10 YEARS AGO … 2009

The development of Dyer Mountain, the proposed 6,700 acre, four season resort near Westwood has entered another phase and is on the table again. The Lassen County Board of Supervisors approved an agreement to allow the owners, Dyer Management LLC, to assume all the developer agreements, rights and obligations of Dyer Mountain Associates, the project’s original development group and they have taken control of the project following the recent conclusion of Dyer Mountain Associate’s bankruptcy.
