100 YEARS AGO … 1919

Announcing the reopening of the Quincy Theatre on Saturday evening at 8 o’clock p.m. with a showing of the western drama silent film: “The Man from the Painted Post”, written and starring Douglas Fairbanks and a second feature: a Mack Sennett comedy. Adults 30 cents, children 10 cents.

50 YEARS AGO … 1969

Easter advertisement: Come and Dine with us for Easter—Ranch style buffet at the Crossroads at Lake Almoner, $3.95 buffet or full menu service. Prime rib special special at Bob’s Fine Foods in Quincy, $3.25. Mohawk Dining Room smorgasboard featuring 25 salads and 5 entrees, $3.00.

Easter is for Happy Feasting—Ham 59 cents a pound, eggs for coloring 49 cents a dozen, yams 12 cents a pound, asparagus 29 cents a pound, butter 69 cents a pound, brown ‘n serve rolls 29 cents a dozen, jelly beans 39 cents a bag.

25 YEARS AGO … 1994

Easter Feasting—Ham $1.18 a pound,  carrots for the bunny 39 cents a pound, asparagus 77 cents a pound, mayonnaise $1.19 a quart, hot cross buns $2.49 a dozen, butter $1.19 a pound, eggs for coloring 49 cents a dozen, yams 50 cents a pound, strawberries 57 cents a basket, cool whip 79 cents a tub.

10 YEARS AGO … 2009

Easter Entertaining—Ham 99 cents a pound, asparagus $1.29 a pound, Hawaiian sweet dinner rolls $2.00 a dozen, strawberries $1.25 a basket, 10 stem bunch of tulips $6.99.
