100 YEARS AGO … 1918

The reading room of the Crescent Mills branch of the Plumas County Free Library has now reopened after the winter. The branch is located in the Whitney home and Miss Gerturde Marsh is custodian of all reading material and books. Free magazines and books are now available for those who care for them.

50 YEARS AGO … 1968

An early morning fire on Sunday destroyed three buildings including the Belden Store and the cabins when a fire began in an unattended duplex cabin.

25 YEARS AGO … 1993

United States Congressman Wally Herger blasted the federal deficit and extreme environmentalists during his visit to Plumas County last week.

10 YEARS AGO … 2008

Feather River Community College District has selected Ronald Taylor as the new supertintendent-president of the district, replacing Dr. Susan Carroll, who is retiring after nine years in that position. He comes from Chabot College in Hayward where he served as vice president of academic services.
