50 YEARS AGO … 1969

Advertisement: Big John Circus comes to Plumas County, bringing animals, jugglers, acrobats, clowns and Neena the Elephant. Saturday in Portola, Sunday in Taylorsville.

25 YEARS AGO … 1994

Costs are “rising”. It has yet to carry a passenger but the new Plumas County courthouse elevator project is already $28,850 over budget. Additional costs are due to overtime, extra drilling, casing work, interior formica supplies and bronze materials.

10 YEARS AGO … 2009

Plumas County Adminsitrative Officer Jack Instad announced that the Pumas County budget will be posted online, showing that the budget has decreased over the last five years with the current draft standing at $24,976.oo down from $25,155.00 in 2005. It was further reported that out of county travel expenses has been reduced by $106,759.00.
