Last week at the Plumas County Fair 4-H auction Dorothy Knox of Sierraville showed the Grand Champion steer that was purchased for 75 cents per pound by the Mapes Hotel in Reno, Nevada.
25 YEARS AGO … 1993
The 1993 Plumas County Fair 4-H auction netted a near record $98,055.25 as 109 head of cattle, lambs and porkers were sold Sunday.

A full page stating “Thankyou Firefighters” is included in this week’s Feather Publishing Company newspapers for merchants and individuals to place in their windows as a way to thank all firefighters, peace officers, volunteers and public servants for their efforts in the recent Rich Fire located near Rush Creek in the Feather River Canyon. The blaze was spotted as a helicopter crew was spotting the Belden Fire and the Canyon Complex Fire.
