50 YEARS AGO … 1968

Advertising: Cool down this summer dining out at the Timber House in Chester. Weekly nightly specials include: Monday-prime rib of beef, Tuesday-veal scallopini, Wednesday-baked chicken, Thursday-barbeque combination plate, Friday-shrimp creole, Saturday-beef stroganoff, Sunday-roast turkey.

25 YEARS AGO … 1993

Vandals continue to ravage Chester Park. Playground equipment, swings, basketball hoops have been destroyed, restrooms have been vandalized and destroyed, benches have been torn apart among other acts of destruction. Plumas County Board member for that District, Paul Simpson pleas with the public to come forward with any information.

10 YEARS AGO … 2008

The monetary amount at the Plumas-Sierra Fair 4-H auction was down this year. 110 buyers spent a total of $202,790 purchasing 134 animals this year, compared to last year when 130 buyers spent $262,803 for 158 animals.
