100 YEARS AGO … 1919

California Governor W. D. Stephens will be in Plumas County this week during a tour of inspections of the State Highway system. He will be in Blairsden on Tuesday, staying there overnight and will leave for Quincy on Wednesday, culminating his tour and evaluation in Greenville and Chester at the end of the week.

50 YEARS AGO … 1969

Thirty California Counties, including Plumas County, was represented at the California State Fair in Sacramento this week. Plumas County Chamber of Commerce manager Bob Moon manned the Plumas County information booth and distributed some 10,000 copies of printed literature and information about the county’s recreational and industrial prospects.

25 YEARS AGO … 1994

It has been proposed that the annual Plumas County fair be moved from the traditional date of the second week of August to the third week in July. Newspaper readers are asked to please fill out the survey that is provided in this week’s newspaper and we will forward your preference and comments to the Plumas County Fair Board for their evaluation and consideration.

10 YEARS AGO … 2009

The Plumas County Board of Supervisors approved an agreement between Plumas County and the State Department of Public Health to receive funds to plan, prepare and respond to the swine flu epidemic. Plumas County will receive $239,595 specifically for dealing with the contagious H1N1 virus (swine flu).
