Jill graduated from Chester High School in 1962. She worked in the mental health field with special needs adults, and graduated from Chico State. She met her future husband, Gene Martin, while working in Napa, CA, and they had two children, Tim and Dan.
She lived in La Grande, OR, for many years, and for the last years in a nursing home there where she was loved by the staff and was active in the prayer life of her church. Jill was known for her compassion and ability to reach people that others could not understand. She had a wonderful laugh, and made strangers and friends feel comfortable in her presence.
Survivors include her two sons and their families: Tim (Brianna) and their two daughters; Dan (Kristina) and their two sons and two daughters; her brother Jeff (Lois) and their two daughters; sister Janice; and friends Kay, Donna and Marie.
