See smoke at Bucks? Controlled burns planned

The Mount Hough Ranger District of the Plumas National Forest will be burning piles in the Bucks Lake area starting today, Nov 9. Planned ignitions will take up to 14 days with favorable conditions. Smoke may be generated for a few days once ignitions are complete.

This project is within a Defensible Fuel Profile Zone and will improve forest health by reintroducing fire to a fire adapted ecosystem. The burn is intended to reduce ground fuel loading. Burning will only take place on burn days established by the Northern Sierra Air Quality Management District. Should weather conditions become unfavorable, burning will cease until conditions become favorable again.
